Convolution Formula and Finite W Boson Width Effects in Top Quark Width Received Day Month Year Revised Day Month Year

چکیده
In the standard model, the top quark decay width Γt is computed from the exclusive t → bW decay. We argue in favor of using the three body decays t → bf i ¯ f j to compute Γt as a sum over these exclusive modes. As dictated by the S-matrix theory, these three body decays of the top quark involve only asymptotic states and incorporate the width of the W boson resonance in a natural way. The convolution formula (CF) commonly used to include the finite width effects is found to be valid, in the general case, when the intermediate resonance couples to a conserved current (limit of massless fermions in the case of W bosons). The relation Γt = Γ(t → bW) is recovered by taking the limit of massless fermions followed by the W boson narrow width approximation. Although both calculations of Γt are different at the formal level, their results would differ only by tiny effects induced by light fermion masses and higher order radiative corrections.

Polynomial functions are re nable
Received (Day Month Year) Revised (Day Month Year) Communicated by (xxxxxxxxxx) The scope of renable functions in wavelet theory is focused to localized functions. In our paper we like to widen that scope, in particular we show that all polynomial functions are renable. This may yield an interesting notion of convolution of polynomials.
متن کاملTop-quark decay at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD.
We present the complete calculation of the top-quark decay width at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD, including next-to-leading electroweak corrections as well as finite bottom quark mass and W boson width effects. In particular, we also show the first results of the fully differential decay rates for the top-quark semileptonic decay t → W(+)(l(+)ν)b at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD....
متن کاملSome Remarks about the Connection between fractional divided Differences, fractional B-splines, and the Hermite-Genocchi Formula
Received (Day Month Year) Revised (Day Month Year) Communicated by (xxxxxxxxxx) Fractional B-splines are a natural extension of classical B-splines. In this short paper, we show their relations to fractional divided differences and fractional difference operators , and present a generalized Hermite-Genochi formula. This formula then allows the definition of a larger class of fractional B-splines.
متن کاملFinite-Width Effects in Top Quark Production at Hadron Colliders
Production cross sections for tt̄ and tt̄j events at hadron colliders are calculated, including finite width effects and off resonance contributions for the entire decay chain, t → bW → blν, for both top quarks. Resulting background rates to Higgs search at the CERN LHC are updated for inclusive H → WW studies and for H → ττ and H → WW decays in weak boson fusion events. Finite width effects are ...

Received Day Month Year Revised Day Month Year Discrete coherent states for a system of n qubits are introduced in terms of eigenstates of the finite Fourier transform. The properties of these states are pictured in phase space by resorting to the discrete Wigner function.
